A good film is always stimulating, isn't it? Often the secret of an idea or a project emerges precisely when you are most relaxed and rested. That's why it's important to balance work with fun.
We have selected 5 films about innovation that are very important for anyone who is trying to innovate or is just looking for inspiration. Why?
Because life can imitate art, but in the films we have selected, life was the inspiration for these cinema classics!
Based on real stories, we want to show that regardless of your journey so far, everything can change with planning, study, guidance and a lot of dedication.
So, have you already looked for your place at the 4C cinema? Because man does not live solely from work. Come with us
Imitation Game
If today we are using computers and reaping the fruits of complex calculations, we owe the foundations of what is today's Computer Science to the British mathematician Alan Turing. He is the main character in the film The Imitation Game.
In World War II, the British government formed a team to decipher Enigma, a famous encrypted code that the Germans use to send messages to submarines.
The leader of this group is Alan Turing, who manages to build a machine that analyzes and breaks all the coding possibilities that the Germans are using, making it possible for the English army and allies to act before orders are carried out!
It's impossible to discuss the information age without mentioning Alan Turing's name, as he defined the concept of algorithms, and the film is truly worth it.
The social network
You may have started reading this article from a very famous social network, Facebook, which is the topic of our new film tip. Today there are more than 2 billion users around the world on the platform.
But his beginnings began less ambitiously in a room at Harvard. Aaron Sorkin's screenplay adapts the non-fiction book The Accidental Billionaires, written by Ben Mezrich.
The story is extremely detailed and shows how Mark Zuckerberg and Brazilian Eduardo Saverin created the largest social network in the world.
Cheating, envy, ambition, technology, investments, startups and many other topics are on the screen in this film that shows the world of these young people who revolutionized the use of social networks and became billionaires “just” by connecting people.
Tucker: A Man and His Dream
Everyone knows that the automotive world is competitive. But he is more than that and you will see it in the story of Preston Tucker, in Tucker: A Man and His Dream.
The film produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola tells everything about the Tucker Torpedo, which despite not seeing mass production, introduced concepts and equipment used in current cars.
He suffered a lot for being very innovative and, believe me, wanting to deliver something with fair value for his customers. From a revolutionary idea and project, the car was defamed with a negative marketing campaign, frames from competitors and pressure from the US government.
Tucker was almost arrested, but managed to prove his innocence, but he did not save his greatest legacy, Torpedo, which had a long waiting list and avid customers.
NOTE: To give you an idea, Tucker was concerned about the safety of his passengers, the vehicle's interior handles, for example, were placed inside the doors to prevent its occupants from getting hurt in the event of an accident.
The interior of the car was completely padded, including the dashboard and the central headlight turned following the direction of the steering wheel to illuminate curves).
4. Joy – The Name of Success
Like many inventors, an idea emerged from a problem at home and soon afterwards a product with global potential was born. And how to make this turn into money and bring success!?
Joy – The Name of Success tells the true story of inventor Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence). She is a single mother who invents the “Magic Mop” and has to overcome many financial difficulties in 1990.
The product is now available in many stores and markets and allows you to wring out the mop without having to use your hands! At the time, the product was an immediate success, accounting for 18,000 sales in just 20 minutes of presentation on a TV channel.
The film illustrates all this tension of innovating at home and Joy's challenges with her family helping (and getting in the way) every day, the mistakes on the way to invention, the search for investors and even the challenge of almost losing her own brand due to not invest in legal security!
Film so you don't blink and see that the road is really long (but worth it)!
Genius Play
Today, when it rains, your car window wiper is automatic, right? It wasn't always like this!
And it will be even more challenging to discover that the automotive sector is (again) very brutal and merciless towards small inventors. But it can be beaten!
In Game of Genius, Robert Kearns, an engineer by training, university professor and an inventor in his spare time, created today's automatic cleaner, that is, a device that would be used in all cars in the world. Incredible, right? But it wasn't easy!
He had his invention stolen by the giant Ford in 1960 and fought for his rights and due recognition. Based on real events, the film tells the story of the man who fought with titans and challenged the imposing American automobile industry, fighting for his rights and justice.
More than lies, blackmail and bribery from the American monopoly, the story shows the importance of family and the determination of a man who didn't stop until he gained recognition.
Enjoying free time with friends and family is just as important as staying focused on work. That's why you can have a marathon with these films and then put everything into practice! What do you think about this?
And, if you liked a film that isn't on the list, leave it in the comments and we can talk about it here soon.
